most people who are subscribed to this little newsletter already are familiar with my work so sorry if this sounds pointless, but I really want this project to be useful to other artists even if they don’t follow me already!
So, nice to meet you! My name is Costanza, i was born and raised in Bologna (Italy) in 1996. Here’s a non-comprehensive summary of my “career“ as an artist
started writing fanfiction in middle school and continued on and off until… honestly until now! most of it is terrible (and also in Italian) so please understand why I don’t share this one. I will share when I write something cool tho i promise!
oh btw i feel like this is relevant: i’ve been chronically online since the age of 11 lmao
i was really into cosplay in high school and i learned the very basics of sewing. I now make clothes semi regularly, most of them are not wearable, I don’t have much time for such a labor intensive hobby these days but sometimes I actually do manage to finish something. In the last year I made this corset which I think is really cute
fun fact: I was the admin of the (at the time, now deleted) biggest Michael Jackson fanpage on Facebook
i went to what in Italy we call a classical high school, which lasts 5 years and focuses intensely on classics (that’s why I know how to translate ancient greek and latin) and history and literature and philosophy (that’s why I’m so hot) and the humanities in general. I learned a lot about art and literature, especially classical ones. It taught me how to write beautifully and organise my thoughts, and it informs my taste to this day!
I was a freelance model for a while during college. I have a bit of a complicated history with it (which I explored in my zine about photography and self objectification) but overall i’m really grateful for at least some of the works that I got out of it. You can see my portfolio here!
this isn’t really about art but I majored in physics and it’s a pretty fundamental part of who I am and how I understand the world. You can be 100% sure that i will never mislabel an axis on this newsletter, no sir not me that’s guaranteed
In 2018 I started a youtube channel about physics and philosophy that went on to do quite well. This isn’t my first attempt at youtube but it is the first one to be actually successful. It gave me very valuable insight on what it means to be famous and why it can be tricky. I decided to close it in 2020 for reasons that I will get into some other time, but I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for this project, it changed my life and I am really really grateful for all it got me
oh i also started a few videogames in Unity during college... never finished any of them tho oops
again not directly about art but in 2019 I dropped out of a Master’s degree in Physics of Complex Systems, which is all about complexity and network science and all that malarkey. It deeply informs the way I see the world, and you’ll see me talk about how everything is secretly a network all the time. Once I dropped out of this, I went into a Master’s Degree in physics education, which I expect to be done with in 2025
I started a more personal youtube channel in 2020, once I realised that I didn’t wanna be a full time science communicator. I experimented for a few years with what I wanted to do, and eventually settled on video essays. I don’t have much time these days to make videos there but the stuff I did make is actually quite nice
I tried my hand at Tiktok during lockdown and learned a few tricks. Everyone shits on Tiktok but I actually really like it as a platform, I had a lot of fun creating for it and I sold a few zines thanks to it! I had a meme page that I turned into my main account, and also here’s my spam account
In 2022 I went to drama school in Belfast for 6 months. Here’s my acting reel. I don’t do a lot of acting these days, mostly because I’m focusing on other projects (plus I don’t like auditioning that much) but when I have the occasion I really like it
At some point I designed and sold t-shirts and other apparel. I was not very good at it tbh, I lost about 200 euros from this project and it ended up being quite short lived. Learned a lot about how to make a physical product thought, which ended up being super useful later!
These days, I mostly write for my newsletter which is about mental health, relationships, romance, life lessons and the occasional angsty essay about Catholicism. This is my best work so far and I think you’ll really like it!
Every few months I also publish a zine. Most of my sales are digital but I also offer physical products (don’t worry there’s gonna be many entries in this newsletter about the logistics of physical products, I didn’t go insane only to not make content about it!!)
There definitely are a few smaller projects here and there, but this is the main juice. Thanks for taking the time to read my life story lol
I’ll see u soon!
